Abstract
In awakening the land and opening the eyes of the people – more precisely, in putting the ideas of the national awakening era into practice – the Jadids were able to make effective use of the possibilities of the press, schools, education, literature and art. Despite various obstacles, they founded newspapers such as “Taraqqiy”, “Khurshid”, “Vaqt”, “Oyna”, “Samarqand”, “Sho‘ro”, “Shuhrat”, “Turon”, “Bukhoroi Sharif”, “Sadoi Farg‘ona” and “Sadoyi Turkiston”, and promoted the key ideas of that time, in particular the ideas of enlightenment, patriotism, progress, freedom and independence. In this respect, the journalistic articles of Jadids such as M. Behbudiy, Fitrat, Munavvar Qori, A. Avloniy and Hamza attracted particular public attention.
